    Does Fish Consumption And Fish Oil Actually Help Heart Health?

    17.9 million Deaths were recorded in 2015 which was caused by cardiovascular disease (CVD) these included coronary heart disease, angina, heart attacks, strokes, and heart failure.

    The most common age brackets to suffer from this cardiovascular disease are the older people averaging from 60 and above. The risk factors more strong are high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking, and diabetes, lack of physical activity, obesity, and poor nutrition.

    This shows that every event that results from CVD are largely preventable through healthy habit lifestyle. So, promote the consumption of unrefined plants (natural plants) and discourage the intake of excessive consumption of foods and drinks high in fats, sugars, salt, and alcohol.

    For long now, fish consumption and fish oil has a long history linking it to the prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Due to observational evidence suggesting that fish consumption was associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, there was a randomized trial investigating the effects of fish oil on CVD outcomes.

    BRIEF REVIEW OF THE HISTORY OF FISH OIL
     1970s = group of people who ate fish had a lower incident of CVD.

     1980s – 1990s = early studies found out that, there is an association between fish consumption and heart disease risk.

     1990s = there was a randomized trial conducted to see the effect of fish oil on cardiovascular disease outcome.

     2002 = the American heart association came up with a statement explaining that fish oil consumption was protective with regard to fatal outcomes.

     2002 – 2016 = inconsistent results was produced by more randomized trials and systematic reviews.

     2016 = a scientific advisory group was formed by American heart association to synthesize and analyze the available evidence and concludes that there was a small benefit from fish oil for people who have the history of CVD.

     2018 = there was a large meta-analyses conducted in JAMA with 77,000+ participants, it was found that, there is no benefit from fish oil supplement on real clinical end point.

    HEALTH TIPS:
    CVD is the leading cause of death worldwide and is sometimes preventable through lifestyle changes. Several researchers and organizations have been interested in the effects of fish oil on CVD outcomes but have found conflicting evidence.

Then, pinpoint the hidden roadblocks in our lives to overcome our daily unhealthy barriers in order to improve positively. Most importantly, how can we become the architect of good health and healthy habits rather than the victims of ill-health?
